The company is a global “high end” recruitment business, dominant in providing IT / engineering / technical recruitment to sectors including Aerospace & Aviation, Automotive, Defence, Rail, Electronics, Power, Environmental, Construction, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications.

They employ over 400 Recruitment Consultants across an international network of 20 offices in the UK, US, Far East and Australia. An exciting opportunity now exists for a Business Development Manager in Birmingham covering the midlands Engineering / Manufacturing / Process Control sectors.

The role will combine an account management approach to several key clients along with a business development remit including winning new business, tendering / bids and penetrating / development of existing business.

The package:

  • Basic Salary in the range £25,000-£37,000 dependent on experience.
  • Bonus structure providing OTE £40,000 - £50,000
  • Flexible benefits package including Company Car or Car allowance (£4,000), laptop, phone heath care, pension and share scheme.

The role

  • Account Managing several of the organisations key Engineering Recruitment accounts.
  • Working with the recruitment consultants to develop “spot business” into regular customers.
  • Formalising relationships with clients via Service Level Agreements, Preferred Supplier arrangement etc…
  • Tendering / bidding for business.
  • Acting as a bridge between the clients (externally) and the recruitment consultants and delivery consultants (internally)
  • Identifying opportunities to cross-sell / cross-pollinate across locations and business units.
  • Attending client meetings to take requirement and agree / monitor service levels.
  • Organise client events or undertake client entertaining to enhance relationships.
  • Understand contract and permanent terms, negotiate client terms, Master Agreements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure commercial terms and service standards are clear (with the assistance of legal / compliance teams).
  • Monitor key statistics on an on-going basis, including revenue / deals and SLA delivery to ensure delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure repeat business is won through effective client meetings and expectation management.
  • Coaching and Developing Recruitment Consultants in their client relationship / client meeting abilities.

Knowledge & Skills required

  • The role would suit either an existing Business Development Manager or an Account Manager or Senior Recruitment Consultant who is “client facing” with a track record of winning accounts (in any market).
  • Applications will also be considered from field sales professionals who do not have recruitment experience but who have client facing experience selling to the midlands engineering / manufacturing sector.
  • Able to demonstrate success in winning new accounts and developing existing accounts.
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Consistent good or strong performer in previous sales roles.
  • Leadership capability to take ownership and drive business solutions.
  • Effective communicator, role-model and coach
